How to start?

In this post I would like to show you some interesting websites and actions that will help you with actually changing this world.

I believe the first thing you should do in order to change this place is to fully appreciate it. To do this, there are 3 main things I can recommend:

  1. Stop existing and start living
  2. Never stop learning
  3. Travel

I’ll explain them briefly:

  • Start living: The first thing you should realise is that the reality outside your door is far more real than the one you see on TV. If you look around, people are generally friendly and willing to share their experiences. Once you start living, you will learn things and see places you’ve never seen before.
  • Never stop learning: Education is the most powerful weapon! Keep doing new stuff and challenging yourself. Most people think that education is expensive. This is not true. University is expensive, high school can be quite expensive, but learning is really cheap. If you want to have high standard, university-level, free education, check out this post on lifehacker.

  • Travel: as said before, travelling is not expensive per se. Taking a walk in a street you never walked before can be really relaxing. Walking in a street you seen a thousand times before can be comforting and therefore relaxing as well… If you want to get out, take a bike, the train, a bus and go to a town you never visited before. If you want to visit other countries, states,… take your time and meet new people. Couchsurfing, hitchhiking and seat 61 will help you in travelling in a new, fun way.

Update: The wikimedia foundation launched the wikiversity. On this site you can basically learn everything about anything. http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Main_Page

Jan Leyssens is a designer and entrepreneur who strongly believes you can’t turn sustainability into a positive story if your main focus is on negative impact. When designing, he is always looking for the overlap between activism and entrepreneurship, technology and community. His main expertise lies in strategic business model development, Circular Economy, the makermovement, and social innovation. With a background in Industrial Design, Jan quickly shifted his focus towards business design and using the design process in strategic management. Jan is the father of two kids and founder & CEO of Regenerative Design, co-founder of Full Circle, ImpactBoost, and the Circular Design map, podcaster, storyteller, and changemaker.
